Where's that post-jam update?

To quickly answer the question presented in the title: it's on the way, and should be finished very soon! I talk a bit more about that below.

But first, holy guacamole! Second place overall is absolutely crazy to me! I joined this jam with the hopes that it would motivate me to learn Godot. That was a stupid decision, because this meant my first experience with Godot was me fumbling around for a month trying to make a metroidvania. I could've done Pong or something, but no. I did a metroidvania. It was a huge undertaking, and by the end I was happy to just have anything to be able to submit. Never in my wildest dreams would this little project do that well!

And I'm even more flabbergasted at these results because the quality of the entries that I was able to play were top notch. Here are just a few entries, in no particular order, I'd like to throw some love toward and which I would've ranked higher than my weird little game in a heartbeat:

Door to Nii'Meph, which has a perfectly retro vibe, and is confusing in a way that makes you feel like you've legitimately been dropped into the center of a conflict much bigger than you.

Necrocities, sporting the most bizarre aesthetic of any entry I played, this is the winner of the jam in my heart.

Falling into Ruin, with charmingly simple graphics and which gets my vote for the best cover image of the jam. It's so fun to feel like a little dude pelting baddies with rocks!

Ruin Forest, which is just super freaking fun! Seriously. I don't know how they did it. Most of my games are boring text-based things, so this entry baffled me.

Cannon Cat, which I was pretty terrible at, but feels very charming, unique, and worthy of expansion!

And these are only a few of my favorites because, really, I could go on and on raving about the many awesome entries; I mean, a text-based metroidvania? A metroidvania made in my beloved pygame? Squelchy squirt?! Really just some amazing stuff! I hope to see some of it expanded on too...

On that note, what's going on with "Escape from Loveland" getting a post-jam update? Well, almost everything is done! Including new settings (an alternate (easier to read) font, volume controls, and custom key binding), a few slightly reworked rooms, and a bit of polish here and there that I won't spoil. The main thing that is taking time is that the post-jam version will have all original music. Many songs are done, but there's still a bit of a way to go there.

Right now, it's very likely that once the post-jam update comes, this game will not be getting any more love. I've been back and forth on really taking the time to flesh things out and make it a Super Metroidvania Month entry, but I think that since this is my first Godot project, I sort of want to move on from it now. I don't know. We'll see...

Anyway, great work everyone! I had a ton of fun. Oh, and congratulations to Benjamin J Roberts on first place overall for Valpurgis!
